worlds highest tides funnel effect whales and wildlife fun in fundy

The Bay of Fundy is shaped like a funnel – wide and deep at its mouth, and shallow and narrow at its head. As the enormous volume of water moves up the ever-narrowing bay, a “funnel effect” occurs. The result? Tides of epic proportions.

The Tides

This famous arm of the North Atlantic was formed some 100 million
years before the first dinosaurs roamed the earth.

Water Power

Twice a day, 100 billion tons of seawater flows in and out of the bay. That’s more than the combined flow of the world’s freshwater rivers.
